OK, I'll admit it. I'm a bit nervous.
This is my first post as a Bizo blogger. Russ, our CEO, has been the prime contributor to this blog since its inception. Big shoes to fill, for sure, but now that the company has grown quite a bit over the past few months, we decided this would be a great time to open the doors to new bloggers, contributors, and thought leaders in the B2B marketing space.
Which means that in addition to being nervous, I'm also pretty excited.
First and foremost, we hope to use this blog as a conversation starter for the world of B2B online marketing. The space has evolved a great deal over the past few years. Remember way back when people were questioning the value of social media in marketing? The question now is not whether or not you have a Twitter account, but whether or not you're aware of Twitter best practices for B2B.
Similarly, we happen to think that a new era of targeted online marketing has arrived. B2B marketers have been employing geographic, behavioral, and demographic targeting for some time now, but what's most interesting to us is the idea of audience targeting (i.e. if you only targeted the specific business demographics of your ideal prospects, how much additional ROI could you reap?)
As marketers, I think we continue to learn most about what's working and what's not -- mostly from each other. As such, I hope you'll not only read this blog regularly, but also comment on it, and ultimately help us shape its direction.
To get started, we'd love to learn about what matters to you as a B2B marketer. Which marketing channels or tactics have you had success with lately? Which thought leaders have truly had an impact on you? What's on your mind most as you embark on 2011?
Email me or comment here. I look forward to hearing -- and learning-- from you.
